Ocean Voice and Data won the contract to design, deliver and support a new telephone system, which was to replace the existing Ferranti Rhapsody analogue telephone system. The building is listed, so it was important that we understood the implications of this when running cables etc. There was a combination of NTL analogue lines and BT analogue lines.
The Business Challenge
George Hay wanted to modernise their communications infrastructure, but really were not aware of some of the new system functionality that would undoubtedly help make their communications run more smoothly.
Our in house planning and project management team decided that, to keep to the pre determined budget's set by George Hay, it would be prudent to use the existing cabling. The Avaya IP Office system was chosen due to its flexibility, ease of expansion and remote access capabilities. The system was installed in the existing communications cabinet, the building wiring being provided to the cabinet via a link cable and then terminated to a patch panel.
This provided the connectivity from the IP Office to the building wiring via patch leads. Of course this meant that George Hay also had the flexibility of being able to re-patch after any office moves!
ISDN 30 and DDI ranges were provided via BT, with George Hay making full use of Ocean Voice and Data's Least Cost call Routing (LCR) package.
Full and comprehensive training was provided to all staff by our in house trainer. This training was actually run in sessions with approximately 10 staff per session.
As part of our ongoing commitment to George Hay we offer free ad hoc programming, which we do remotely and we provide ongoing yearly support and maintenance services.
